Frequently Asked Questions for Elopements and Intimate Weddings

  1. Travel Cost? - Depending on if it is near the photographer’s city they are based out of, we typically charge by the kilometre, roundtrip. If we are traveling overseas or more than a couple of hours then the fees can include all travel costs. For me, I charge a flat fee that includes my airfare, any transportation and accommodations if needed. I had hidden costs and after market fees so I don’t charge them to my clients. We agree on an all inclusive price and that’s it.

  2. Can you be my plus one and sign the marriage license? - It will depend on the photographer and where they are from. Some countries require you to be a resident of that location. So, do ask them. As for me, absolutely, friggin-lutly I will be your plus one and witness your love. I am so honoured to be even asked. Thank you kindly.

  3. What time of day is the best time for the ceremony and photos? All photographers love to chase beautiful light. So, the golden hour is key for your photos but your ceremony can be before. Just remember if you are getting hitched the mountains, an hour after sunrise and the hour before sunset is our favourite time of day.

  4. What should I bring? Anything that is sentimental to y’all, don’t forget your rings, written vows and if you love florals please get some but not gerber daisy please. We can all do better than gerber daisies. Also, ladies you usually get nervous walked toward your lover and need to have something in your hands. If not, you could run the risk of looking like an SNL skit. ‘When I get nervous I put my hands…’ Just saying ?!

  5. How many hours do I really need a photographer for? - Most of us have a minimum amount of hours it is worth leaving our homes for work for. So, for me I have 4 hours. Why, is because it allows you both to be relaxed, not look nervous in your photos, give me time to capture your final details, time together, your ceremony, and your portraits. If you rush this, you will feel like it flew by too fast, you will worry if you got enough photos taken and I will have to be more bossy than I would like to get you to follow my lead instead of me authentically capturing your love story.

*Now for a recent elopement in Banff, Alberta in the heart of the Canadian Rocky Mountains.

    Jenna + Shaun Married

Jenna and Shaun wanted to sneak away to the rocky mountains just the two of them. They were already committed to each other but wanted to make their love official. So, they messaged me way before any hardly anyone even knew what they were planning - that happens more than you might realize - and I got immediately excited for the two of them. Fast forward to a few months later and here we are, at the Rimrock Resort in Banff, Alberta and just the three of us. Well, until the marriage commissioner and his wife arrived, she was the other witness needed to sign the wedding license. Take a look-see at their romantic elopement. I am certain her smile and his charm will warm your hearts.

    Much Love,

    Christy
